#TravelTuesday: Chelinda Camp 🏕
Located high on the Nyika Plateau within Nyika National Park, Chelinda Camp overlooks a crystal-clear dam with panoramic views of rolling hills, isolated ridges and open high-altitude grasslands. Accommodation at Chelinda Camp consists of two options. There are four chalets which have two bedrooms, a bathroom, lounge, dining area with a fireplace and a small kitchen. There are also six en-suite rooms with twin beds, which share a dining, bar and lounge area complete with comfortable furnishings and an inviting fireplace for those cosy nights.
If you’re still unsure, below are a few activities you can do while you are there:
Game drives 🦓
Game viewing in the Nyika Grasslands, with types and numbers of wildlife varying, depending on the time of year. Expect to see unusual species such as Crayshaw’s zebra and roan antelope. The drives, in closed vehicles, can be half- or full-day excursions.
Night drives 🌌
Night drives in closed vehicles take advantage of the darkness; the perfect time to look for spotted hyaena, hunting serval, leopard and nocturnal bird species such as Ruwenzori nightjar.
Walking 🚶🏾♀️
Take a nature walk with a professional guide around the camp or further afield to experience the beautiful grasses, stunning flowers and creatures both usual and rarely seen. The age limit for guided walks and trails is 10 years.
Mountain biking 🚵🏾♀️
Good gravel road network in the park makes exploring by bike easy, while the rolling hills allow for panoramic views en route.
Birding 🦤
With many highly restricted distributions, Nyika is a key birding destination in Africa. Varied habitats including forest patches, high-altitude grassland and broad-leaved miombo woodland are home to some 400 species.
We hope you decide to go there on one of the next holidays ✨🏕
