Malawian Girls Rock is a non-profit organization and mobile platform founded by multi award-winning artist Hazel ‘Mak’ Makunganya, along with her sisters Camille Alsop and Michelle Makunganya, dedicated to empowering girls and young women in Malawi to become agents of change in their communities. The organization aims to address the various challenges faced by girls in Malawi, including limited access to education, early marriage and childbearing, and gender-based violence.

Malawian Girls Rock is a unique organization that acts as an umbrella organization that spotlights the achievements of Malawian women through various campaigns and initiatives. The mobile platform promotes, enables, inspires, and connects ambitious women, with the aim of inspiring young Malawians to learn from successful women. The organization's driving focus is to dismantle the marginalized oppressive systems that ensure girls in Malawi remain vulnerable, oppressed, uneducated and uninspired. They believe that change will only happen if they break the cycle of dependency through leading by their motto "Malawian women for Malawian women".

Amongst its achievements, Malawian Girls Rock has been featured internationally, including a spotlight feature on BBC Focus on Africa. The organization also runs countrywide sports donation programs for underprivileged schools and orphanages, providing sports equipment such as football kits and boots donated by philanthropist Sir Bob Holt Footprints Foundation.

Since its founding seven years ago, Malawian Girls Rock has provided scholarships to girls who would otherwise be unable to attend school, as well as mentorship and leadership training to help girls develop the skills they need to succeed. The organization is committed to continuing its efforts to empower girls and young women in Malawi and create a brighter future for all.

Malawian Girls Rock has been recognized for its work in Malawi, receiving numerous awards and accolades. The organization is dedicated to promoting the achievements of Malawian women and inspiring the next generation of young Malawians to reach their full potential.

Additionally, Malawian Girls Rock's Malawian website aims to be the first of its kind in Malawi, serving as a one-stop-shop for all things related to Malawian girls - "the ultimate girl power website". It creates a platform that is informative, empowering, and engaging, showcasing women in a positive way by controlling their narratives, ensuring that their voices are heard and celebrated. The organization believes that there is a market for this, as women are highly underrepresented in Malawian media, and they aim to fill that gap.
