Malawi's very own, Joyce Mvula was voted Sky Sports Fans' Player of the year as she propelled Manchester Thunder to victory in 2019.
The superstar comes from a family of eight in David Momba Village in Mzimba and started her netball journey in primary school. Her outstanding talent led her to a secondary school scholarship and was later selected for the Malawi National Netball Team in 2010, even making an appearance in the 2014 Commonwealth games.
She went to represent the Malawi netball team at the 2019 Netball World Cup and was titled an unsung hero with a mind blowing total of 216 goals in the bag.
In 2017, Joyce signed with Manchester Thunder and lifted the Vitality Netball Superleague trophy with her teammates.
The shooter was also re-signed for another season under the team and also came out with a ball in her name in association with world-renowned netball manufacturer Gilbert.
She, alongside many, is truly an inspiration toward all the young women across the country and leads with a spirit of determination towards achieving their goals.
She continues to proudly wave the Malawi flag high whilst simultaneously advocating for the girl child.
She and Loreen Ngwira have been selected for the All Stars Squad in the Netball Legends Series on Sky Sports and we look forward to cheering them on!
