This weekend 99 people were killed overnight in Malawi as mudslides caused by Cyclone Freddy swept away houses and their sleeping occupants. Over 56,000 people have been affected and 200 deaths have been confirmed so far.
The UN’s World Meteorological Organization has said that Cyclone Freddy is on track to becoming the longest-lasting tropical storm on record. Moreover, it's “rare” and dangerous loop trajectory meant many areas were hit twice.
To assist with Cyclon Freddy relief efforts, we have put a list together of home grown initiatives that are aiding Malawi. You can donate money for essential supplies and relief efforts.
We ask you to join us in supporting the homegrown initiatives above organized by Onjezani Stanely Kenani, the Round Table 32 in Lilongwe, and The Rotary Club.
