The Holiday Season Is Officially Upon Us

I often hear people my age (I am old) or older say that "people don’t celebrate Christmas and New Year like they used to". They list factors like lack of enthusiasm by the majority when it comes to decorating and preparing for the festive season as some of the proof of their sentiments. They go on further to say that without random children in the streets lighting up fireworks on Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve, they would conclude that Christmas and New Year traditions are dead. While the festive season may have lost its significance to some individuals, I am happy that there are still some people who are keeping the traditions alive!

Such individuals forget that Christmas or the New Year is what you make of it. If you believe that young people are forgetting the tradition, why not remind them and show them how it was done in the past? While doing that, it is also wise to learn from them how to make the holidays better and more fun for everyone. It is entirely up to you to make it merry or bleak. Decorate your homes, wrap up simple gifts, and if you can’t afford material gifts, remember that being kind, considerate, and empathetic to a friend or stranger can also be considered a gift.

While everyone is excited about the holiday, let’s not get carried away with the festivities to the point that we forget about family. The Christmas and New Year's holidays provide an opportunity for people who cannot afford a time off or vacation to finally spend time with their families. The holiday offers individuals an opportunity to come together, reconcile, and spend time together without feeling rushed by work or business problems.

Christmas gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect on the important things around us. –David Cameron

Just to remind each other, the festive season is not only about buying or receiving gifts, eating good food, buying new clothes or going on expensive vacations. It is more than that, It is a good time for family, friends, or strangers to come together, reminisce about the good and bad times, laugh, wipe the slate clean, and create some good memories. Above all, let us remember why we cerebrate Christmas and a new year.

Dear Reader, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.

I feel like the reason we lost the Christmas spirit is lack of novelty people grew fatigue over the same traditions and with growth kudya mpunga, getting new clothes and listening to loud music is no longer retained for Xmas or new year, these days I'd argue New Year is the one left with the oumf and the magic but also goes well with money as much as the joy and khumbaya can be celebrated money affords you the food that we as a people know it to be tradition for any celebration to have food, lots of food. And on that note this period people just need to be vigilant with their safety and security, talking about traveling or…
