Talent Tuesday with Lorraine Chilemba

Name: Lorraine Tayamika Chilemba.

Tayamika is a young creative who doesn’t believe in limits. Her passion for learning leads her to self teach and learn an array of skills. From crocheting to video editing to hair styling to makeup artistry, Taya believes she can do it all. As an active feminist, Taya has worked with Tiwale and AfroFem, her student enterprise at school.

She is working on a thesis called “The intersectionality of being African, black and a woman.” This is topic close to her heart as she believes there is a unique, untold story of what it means to exist in this world as a black, African woman. She is set to graduate from the African Leadership Academy in June and following that she will be taking a gap year where she wishes to continue participating in activism work to create impactful change and create music.

Tayamika is also a talented vocalist who has created music with her sister @chmba in Chmba’s EP “Mtima Rising”. You can expect to hear more from her in coming months.

Taya creates content on TikTok and Instagram under the handle @tayamikaa which you can find on both platforms, and her student enterprise’s instagram is @afrofemmm.
