Meet: Takondwa Karen Mwendera
Takondwa Karen Mwendera is a God-fearing creative with a zest for life and travel. She was born in Malawi, babied in Ethiopia, raised in Swaziland and Kenya, and educated in South Africa and the United Kingdom. She’s a former Forbes Africa journalist as well as a journalism lecturer. as an award-winning journalist, she was recently named one of the Top 50 Rising Moguls for 2023 by She Leads Africa.
This QUEEN has an Honours in Journalism from Wits and a Master of Science in Humanitarian Engineering from the University of Warwick as a Commonwealth scholar. Now, she wants to use her communication skills to help with sustainability, innovation, development, and telling the African growth story. She currently works in the President’s Office of World Vision International as a communications and administration officer.
In her spare time, this QUEEN enjoys a variety of activities, including chess, eating, journaling, hiking, listening to afrobeats and amapiano, and binge-watching Netflix series. She has mixed feelings about working out, depending on the day.
