“BOUDOIR” MORE THAN FASHION

Malawi has been really trying to catch up with the rest of the world on fashion trends. From having new designers, to having people introduce their own clothing lines in the country. The fashion industry in the country has been making strides that are becoming recognizable on the world map. Although the Miss Malawi brand has been incognito for a long time, there have been platforms like Lily Alfonso’s TRI in 2017, the beautiful Africa fashion show last year and most recently Winter Ankara Fashion show (WAFE).

When Mabel Banda Khonje launched her lingerie line “Boudoir” last year at Latitude 13 in Lilongwe following her initial launch in Amsterdam, no one saw a fashion show coming this year especially with covid-19 restrictions. “Boudoir” which translates to a woman’s private bedroom offers a variety of lingerie for women of all sizes. In case you are tempted to think you saw it all last year, the inaugural annual fashion this Friday, will showcase more than the lingerie as Mabel has added a new range of lavish swim wear under the same trademark. Is there a better combination than fashion and music? Hosted by the decorated Media personality Priscilla Kayira, the fashion show will be spiced up by our very own Patience Namadingo, Sipe and of course the dynamic south African duo Blaq Diamond.

FYI, it’s a black tie event so you can go big or go home. There is no better tim

We just don’t have a fashion show to look forward to every year nor a look and feel good fashion brand, its more about changing the status qou on how female models are looked at, collaboration over competition through incorporating other women but most of all inspiring other women to never give up on their dreams.
