Body Positivity Matters!!!

Camera, lights, action were the order of the night at the first Boudoir annual fashion show at Bingu International Conference Center (BICC) last Friday. Glitz and glam would be an understatement in painting the picture of how amazing people looked. Thanks to social media you will be able to see for yourself how lavish and fabulous people looked.

Talking about social media, you will understand why this fashion show is of significance in the country and why there is need for the show to continue happening. If you are in Whats App groups that shared pictures of the models, one can attest that there is a lot of body shaming that needs to be dealt with in the country. The negative comments that are being made about the models, show just how a majority of people in the country are still plagued by backward thinking.

Wake up this is 2021 no one owes anybody a flat tummy or a Coca-Cola shaped body.

We can channel this energy towards something more meaningful like fighting against gender based violence even more equality. Malawi Communications regulatory authority (MACRA) should perhaps start touching on cyber bullying as well. There is a need for mindset change and embracing women just as they are. That is what this fashion show and the brand is about body positivity. If you attended or had a chance to follow through social media, you will see that the lingerie was paraded by models of different shapes and sizes because that is how everyone should be accepted in their own beautiful skin. Stop Body shaming women.

No matter what shape or size you are sis, you are beautiful. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

Shout out to Mabel for making a huge statement on body positivity through her international standard event. The fashion show the performances were all up to par and really did live up to all the hype.
